The short answer
ZumbaCards accepts California players. AB 831 banned dual-currency sweepstakes casinos from 1 January 2026, and ZumbaCards argues its single-currency model falls outside that ban. No court or regulator has confirmed that position.
That is the operator's reading of the law, not a regulator's. It has not been tested, and the practical question is not whether you can open an account today — you can — but what happens to a balance if the position changes.
What the law says
ZumbaCards has no Gold Coins. Surprise Coins are the only currency, bought in boxes and redeemable at $1. The operator's position is that a single-currency platform is not what AB 831 describes.
What the operator does
ZumbaCards lists California in its state picker and accepts registrations. Identity checks run through Veriff and require a physical photo ID.

What this means for you
- You must be 21 or older, or the local age of majority if it is higher.
- You need a physical government photo ID — Veriff rejects screenshots and expired documents.
- Only one verified account per person is permitted.
- Untested. If a court or the Attorney General reads AB 831 more broadly, access could end with little notice. Balances and pending redemptions would be the practical exposure.
